  • Posted

Brethertons has once again been named as one of the top law firms in the central region, by leading industry publication The Legal 500 Clients Guide to the UK Legal Profession.

The Firm’s Family team is ranked in the top tier and described as ‘fast, efficient and excellent’. This team is headed up by Linda Jones who the guide said was ‘professionally superb, personally sensitive’. Her colleague Simon Craddock, an expert in international child abduction, was also ranked with the accompanying words ‘Simon Craddock is clever, sensible and absolutely top-notch’. From the Bicester office, Sally Clark who advises on divorce, separation, civil partnerships and cohabitation, is also a ranked solicitor with the Firm. From the Personal Injury team, Jon Rees was recommended for his work with spinal and brain injury claims.

Brethertons’ legal services are ranked high in the commercial sector too. In the Employment Team, Partner David Hodge ‘is especially recommended for tribunal claims and “gets the job done” ’ with the department as a whole being praised for providing “excellent advice in a timely manner”. David’s work with TUPE law, pensions advice and high-profile tribunal cases was highlighted with one client describing him as “committed, professional and pragmatic”. The Firm’s regional focus is covered with Brethertons being ‘noted for its “commercial approach to transactions” and its ability to “accommodate the needs of local businesses” ’.

Head of Commercial Property Law, Mary Anderson’s extensive experience in real estate finance and commercial property is recommended along with her team’s ‘particular expertise acting for lenders and borrowers in relation to large property redevelopment schemes, care homes, healthcare centres and hotels’.

As a firm with a strong reputation in the property sector, it is no surprise that Head of Property Management & Commercial Recoveries, Debbie Phillips is mentioned a number of times, as well as the team’s work ‘on behalf of Chelsea Harbour in a £4m dispute concerning service charges, obtaining a favourable finding on the majority of issues’.

Brethertons Solicitors’ CEO Shaun Jardine, also a ranked lawyer, commented “The Legal 500 assesses lawyers on an independent basis and is an important guide for clients when they choose a solicitor. Brethertons excels in many fields of law and these latest rankings support what we already knew; that the Firm is going from strength to strength with clients at the heart of its progress.
