Jon is the driving force behind Brethertons’ national reputation for Spinal Cord Injury work. He has secured close on £100m (lump sum equivalent) in compensation for claimants who have suffered spinal cord and other life changing injuries since he joined the firm 10 years ago. He is visible within the spinal injuries community and works hard to maintain relationships with spinal cord injury professionals in specialist Spinal Cord Injury Centres all over the country. He has been and remains a passionate supporter of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), but he is also a supporter of smaller charitable organisations such as Peer Advice Services UK (PAS) and Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research (SMSR). Jon has represented claimants in Personal Injury Litigation for more than 25 years and has a national reputation in the field of complex spinal cord injury claims. He has successfully settled and concluded numerous seven- and eight-figure compensation claims involving spinal cord injury arising from road traffic collisions, accidents at work/public places and through clinical negligence. Jon is widely respected by colleagues and clients. He is known for his practical solution-finding approach in heavyweight spinal cord injuries litigation. He has won judicial praise for his conduct of and expertise in navigating complex and difficult life changing injuries claims. Clients consistently praise his compassion and approachability; as well as his understanding of their needs, and his tenacity in dealing with life changing injury claims. Jon is identified as a committed and passionate champion of those who have suffered spinal cord injury and as someone who is creative and innovative in finding ways of helping people who suffer the consequences of spinal cord injury irrespective of whether they might have a compensation claim. Clients commend his ‘compassion, sensitivity, knowledge and expertise’. They say ‘his persistence in doing the right thing for the client is admirable’ and that they value his ‘experience, responsiveness and empathy’. Jon is a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. He has written articles for the legal and wider press, is experienced in giving TV, radio and other media interviews and has lectured nationally. Jon says ‘ I am proud of the experience and expertise we have in our niche team. Though we are a small team we certainly punch above our weight. We are passionate about helping people who have suffered life changing injuries. We represent people all across the country, and irrespective of the type of claim that gave rise to their life changing injury. ‘The work we specialise in typically results in six, seven or eight figure compensation sums. We are signatories to the Guide To The Conduct Of Claims Involving Serious Injury a protocol which governs the collaborative approach to claims valued at £250k and above. ‘Whilst accreditations and awards are important, we pride ourselves most on the outcomes, results and feedback we achieve. Our whole team approach is perhaps unique amongst serious injuries solicitors. Access to and engagement with some of the country’s top medico-legal experts specialising in life changing injury work is a significant part of our work. ‘Complementing what we do as litigation specialists are a range of ancillary services we can help those impacted by life changing injury access. Beyond that – and irrespective of whether we can help with a claim or not - we are committed to helping in every way we can. We have unobtrusively helped and continue to help a wide range of innovative and practical charitable and not for profit projects that have made a real difference to people navigating the world after life changing and notably spinal cord injuries’. |
