Fever Pitch: Rugby Does Rugby!

Brethertons’ offices are buzzing with excitement now that the eighth Rugby World Cup tournament has finally kicked off – and in some style!

The Home Nations sides that have played so far have all won their opening games, and we’ve already had what is potentially the biggest shock of the finals, if not the biggest upset in tournament history! With Scotland facing giant-killers Japan on Wednesday, we’re in for a real spectacle as the Thistles prepare to put a dampener on the Cherry Blossoms’ early party. The office sweepstake is up and running and, having been chuffed at pulling South Africa out of the tin, I’m hastily beating a retreat and keeping a low profile!

Popping out of the office at lunch into Rugby, it’s clear the town is at fever pitch as well. The official Fanzone on the Old Market Place is a hotspot, attracting crowds of hundreds of families on match days, screening live games and offering kids the chance to win prizes at one of many rugby-themed competitions. At Brethertons, we’re so proud to be part of it all that we’re joining in the festival with a party of our own.

Having been part of the Rugby community for over 200 years, we wanted to do something to celebrate the town and its illustrious sporting history. We’re big fans of breakfast so we’ve organised a special early-morning event with stars of the game, past, present and future, offering a true reflection on how the game has changed.

With guest speakers, David Duckham (ex-England legend) and Tom Stephenson (current England under-21 and Northampton Saints Centre), guests will be treated to a rip roaring ride of rugby football through the ages. It’s your chance to put your burning questions to the experts in an exclusive Q&A session, so take a look at the event in more detail and book your place through the Events page on our website or simply call Marie Parkinson on 01295 661561 or email marieparkinson@brethertons.co.uk.

I’ve already booked my place and can’t wait to meet some real heroes of the game. In the meantime… #CarryThemHome!
