Twin Town Diary - Monday

The Finish

Written by Rosie ‘Rally Driver’ Gladden

Monday 30th May 2016
Another early start after Sunday night’s party! Throughout the journey, we were reeling at a certain team member who lost some points in the previous days and were urgently making sure that all of the points had been counted!

After a quick stop at Cobham services so that Lexi could rest with her twin Lexus (Playground Game’s car), we made our final journey to Abbotts Diabetes. It was quite a sad moment to know this was the last time we would be travelling in Lexi but, we put on some brave faces and headed in to the Afternoon Tea party.

After another emotional Special Effect video to remind us of why we were all there, an update on the funds raised so far and some special thank you’s, it was time for the big announcement!

Knowing we had dramatically dropped from 1st place to 2nd the day before, the tension was high. The top spot was out of two firms of solicitors but who had done it? When they announced that the Brethertons 99ers had won we could not contain our excitement! Everyone at Brethertons is extremely proud and somewhat a shocked!

Unfortunately, although we were heading home with the trophy, it was time to say an emotional farewell to Lexi and the great friends we had made over the weekend. All is not lost though, as two of the team have already decided that they will take part in the next one and Brethertons are already thinking of what they can do better next time. All that’s left to say is bring on the Twin Town Challenge 2018!

We would like to say a big thank you to SpecialEffect for running this great event, we had a fantastic time! A huge thank you also goes out to the Brethertons 99ers sponsors and everyone that helped Lexi get on the road, especially, First Line, Borg and Beck, Herbies Vehicle Repairs, One Hat Design, Dynamic Designs and Whitley Stimpson.
