Young lawyer takes the lead

  • Posted

Today, the Warwickshire branch of the Law Society has appointed a new chair to its Young Lawyers group. Laura Stuart takes on the role in her second year as a member of the branch.

Laura is a Solicitor in the Wills, Trusts and Probate team, helping clients take care of their personal affairs. She qualified in August 2015 after obtaining a Law Degree by studying part time with the Open University for nine years and training with us for two years. Laura has worked in a range of areas of law and has previously held legal roles at a sole practitioner’s firm and the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Warwickshire Law Society represents more than 500 solicitors, trainee solicitors and legal executives across the region and was established over 100 years ago. The aim of the Society is to provide members with support and assistance, represent them on a regional and national basis, and make sure their views are heard. The Young Lawyers Group was formed in 2003 and aims to advance and promote legal training and professional and personal skills by way of holding seminars and workshops. They also hold social events to encourage and maintain good relations between members.

Laura succeeds Hannah Bates of Band Hatton Button, and is excited about the opportunity to support other young lawyers in the region. “The Young Lawyers Group has been really important to me in helping me achieve my goals. The diverse range of events the group runs will help other young lawyers to grow their personal and professional networks whilst giving them valuable career skills.”

Laura joins other members of our team on the board of the Warwickshire Law Society. Family law Partner Linda Jones is the Deputy Vice President, and Finance Partner Trevor Dyer sits as the Society’s Area Representative for the Rugby region.

Shaun Jardine, Chief Executive Officer, says the Young Lawyers Group is a valuable network for developing lawyers. “I am a passionate believer in supporting young talent to grow and develop. The Young Lawyers Group does a fantastic job of inspiring the next generation of leading lawyers and provides an important forum in which Laura and her colleagues can flourish. Laura is committed, enthusiastic and a brilliant ambassador for Brethertons and we’re delighted to wish her every success for her time in office.”
