Tailor made for success

Alexander Edwards, Managing Director of The Cotswold Tailor has won the Brethertons Solicitors Business Person of the Year Award in the West Oxfordshire Business Awards 2016. The announcement was made at a Gala Dinner held on 18 March at the stunning Heythrop Park near Chipping Norton.

We not only sponsored the award but also lent our expertise to the judging panel. They were particularly impressed with the quality of entrants. “There was some tough competition for the Award but we are delighted with the final winner. Alex’s achievements in building his brand and expanding his business while successfully managing cash flow – the nemesis of so many young businesses – is evidence of his talent as a business leader” commented Colin Witherall, our Head of Commercial Law.

Alex’s business, The Cotswold Tailor, has its origins in bespoke tailoring but has grown in recent years and now offers ready-to-wear and wedding hire, many of which are under its own label. It is a luxury brand that attracts both international and local clients, and Alex has big plans “Many thought I was crazy setting up a luxury brand during a recession. In 5 years however, we have grown to two shops with a third in the pipeline.”

“Alex’s attitude and ambition is exactly why Brethertons is involved in The Business Person of the Year Award” concludes Alison McCormack, Partner and Head of our Client Services. “His submission exemplified key business values towards which many organisations strive. We wish him luck in the county awards.”  As winner of the WOBA award, Alex is automatically shortlisted for the corresponding award at the prestigious county-wide Oxfordshire Business Awards later this summer.
