Brethertons Celebrates 215 Years of Growth with New Offices in Bloxham and Cheltenham

We’re delighted to share some exciting news: Brethertons has opened two new offices, one in Bloxham and another in Cheltenham, marking a significant step in our continued growth and dedication to the local communities we serve.

With these new openings, we now have four permanent offices - in Rugby, Bicester, Bloxham and Cheltenham - giving clients more ways to reach us, whether they prefer meeting in person or connecting remotely.

Celebrating 215 Years of Legal Excellence

This expansion comes as we celebrate an incredible milestone of 215 years since Brethertons was founded by Count William Ferdinand Wratislaw in 1810. The Wratislaw family’s influence stretched far beyond the law; they helped shape the town of Rugby through innovation and public service.

Count Wratislaw petitioned Parliament to improve housing for local residents, established the Rugby Gas Company to bring street lighting to the town, and served on one of the first local health boards in the country, helping to modernise sanitation and public health in Rugby.

His son, Theodore, later co-founded the Rugby Freehold Society to promote home ownership; a legacy of social responsibility that still guides us today.

That same community spirit continues to define Brethertons today. We’re proud supporters of the OurJay Foundation, which funds local defibrillators and is sponsoring the first-aid training of Brethertons’ staff.

At the same time, our Charity of Choice for 2025–2026 is Maggie’s Oxford, a wonderful organisation supporting people living with cancer.

Enhancing Our Legal Offering in Bloxham and Cheltenham

Our new Bloxham office, based within Bloxham Mill, reflects the firm’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our clients in the Banbury area. With easy parking, comfortable meeting rooms and an inviting environment, it’s designed to make visiting us as simple and welcoming as possible.

Alison McCormack, CEO of Brethertons, says, “Bloxham Mill gives us a space that feels perfectly aligned with our values: dedicated personal support, putting clients at the heart of everything we do, and delivering outstanding legal expertise.

“It’s accessible, modern and friendly, which is everything we want our clients’ experience to be.”

Managing Bloxham Mill is Wills Trusts and Probate Team Partner, Sarah Horton. Working alongside her, is Dominic Wisdom, Partner in the Family team, who is permanently based at the office. Together, alongside the rest of the Bloxham team, they will ensure our local clients receive trusted and approachable legal advice, right on their doorstep.

Meanwhile, we’re also proud to be opening a spacious new office in the stunning Regency town of Cheltenham, a move that marks the next exciting chapter in Brethertons’ continued growth across the region.

Director of Legal Services, Linda Jones, who began her career with Brethertons over 37 years ago at just 16, reflects, “We may be new to Cheltenham, but supporting clients with their legal needs is something Brethertons has done for generations. We’re thrilled to bring that heritage and personal approach to this vibrant community.”

Continuing Growth, Grounded in Tradition

While our footprint has expanded, our philosophy remains the same. With recognition as a Times Top 250 law firm, Brethertons continues to put people first, offering clear, compassionate and practical legal advice rooted in more than two centuries of trust.

With deep local roots and a modern outlook, these new offices mark both a proud celebration of our past and an exciting step toward our future.
