Sally Clark, Partner


Sally Clark, Partner

Sally is Head of Family Law at the Bicester office and a Partner of Brethertons LLP. She qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and has practised in Bicester since that time.

Sally deals with all aspects of Family Law including Divorce, Separation, Civil Partnerships, Cohabitation and Child Law, including representation for parents whose children are in care. As a collaborative lawyer, Sally is an active member of the North Oxfordshire Collaborative Lawyers. She is also a member of The Law Society Children Panel.

Sally lives with her husband in Abingdon and enjoys pub quizzes, eating out and socialising with her friends; she is a keen football fan and has been a supporter of Oxford United for many years.

Simon is our specialist for International Child Abduction law. He is one of only a handful of qualified lawyers in the UK who is a member of the International Hague Convention panel and this means he is highly experienced in child abduction law and is qualified to take on this type of work. Simon is one of the few recommended solicitors endorsed by Reunite and ICACU. Simon is recognised as a Leader in Family Law by Chambers UK 2014.

Linda is the Head of the Rugby Family Department. she specialises in financial provision on divorce and has developed a passion for helping clients with complicated financial disputes involving assets such as businesses, pensions, farms and family trusts. Linda is also a trained Collaborative Lawyer. Melanie Tubbs, Solicitor

Melanie is a solicitor in the Family team at Brethertons. She offers guidance to clients on a wide range of family matters including divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships, separation, cohabitation, financial claims after divorce or separation and disputes regarding the arrangements for children. She also  represents clients at Court and assists Partner Linda Jones with more complex matters.
Melanie qualified as a Solicitor in 2008 and has practised family law since 2009 in the West Midlands. She is a Member of the Law Society Family Law Accreditation Scheme (Panel) and a Member of Resolution. 

Away from the office, Melanie plays the violin for a number of local amateur orchestras.  She also enjoys going to the gym and participating in charity events.

Mellonie Ward - Family Law Solicitor

Mellonie Ward, Associate Solicitor

Mellonie joined Brethertons in March 2013 after spending 36 years working at Blakemores where she trained. In her career, Mellonie has worked as a criminal lawyer and in licensing operations before finding a passion for Family law.

Mellonie works in the Family Department in Banbury and specialises in child care related issues. She represents both children in the care of local authorities and also the parents of children in care. Mellonie also sits as a tribunal judge for the Social Entitlement Chamber. Matthew Montanaro - Family Law Solicitor

Matthew Montanaro, Associate Solicitor

Matthew joined the busy Family department at Brethertons in 2013. He is a specialist Children lawyer and a member of the Law Society's Children panel.

He regularly represents Children through Children's Guardian in Care proceedings where it is considered the child has, or is at risk of suffering significant harm. Matthew also represents parents and children in complex and protracted residence and contact disputes. In addition, he has experience of representing clients in unusual cases where there are issues surrounding medical testing, children’s capacity and technical points of law. Kim Lehal - Family Law Solicitor

Kim Lehal, Associate Solicitor

Kim is a solicitor in the Family department and specialises in international family law, international child abduction and regularly advises clients on The Hague Convention, Brussels II and the European Convention.

Kim’s work involves advising clients in domestic and international Wardship proceedings, international contact disputes – registration and enforcement of international contact orders and leave to remove/relocation cases. She also specialises in cases involving Forced Marriage, honour based violence, abandoned spouses and domestic violence.

Kim also advises clients in surrogacy cases, especially where there is a foreign element.

Joanne Soar - Solicitor     



Joanne Soar, Solicitor

Joanne is a Public Law Solicitor in our large Family team, based in Banbury. She qualified in 2004 and has degrees in both Law and Sociology/Psychology. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Joanne worked as a child protection social worker for 13 years.

Joanne’s practice involves attending court to represent her client, meeting clients both in the office and at their home if necessary and taking their instructions and draft statements. She represents both parents and children.

Joanne has worked on some high profile cases including serious physical injury, child death and public law cases involving gang related murder.
