New specialist joins Brethertons

  • Posted

We have appointed Karen Adams as the new Head of Department of our experienced Commercial Recoveries team. Karen joins us from an Oxford-based firm and has an established reputation for expertise in the field.

Karen has worked in debt recovery since 2003, and has joined us from a role in asset finance litigation, bringing broad experience of financial litigation which will enable us to continue to offer our clients a comprehensive suite of services.

Karen has a special interest in the field of return of goods claims. Where a business has supplied goods on a ‘free of charge’, loan or hire basis, there may come a point at which these goods need to be returned, which often involves the complex area of return of goods litigation. Karen’s expertise in this area extends to preventing clientrs’ property being sold via online auction sites.

Karen was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) in 2011 and is skilled in the areas of asset recovery, commercial recovery, county court proceedings, enforcement and insolvency proceedings.

Debbie Phillips, Head of of our Dispute Resolution group welcomes Karen to the team: “Karen brings with her an enviable track record of success and I’m certain her energy and enthusiasm will help her thrive at Brethertons. We look forward to supporting Karen in her new role as Head of an already very successful team.”

Karen is looking forward to the challenge, “I’ve worked in debt recovery for over ten years, so I’ve always known of Brethertons’ presence and standing in this field. My interest in the field of asset recovery suits the firm’s ‘under-one-roof’ philosophy, providing the client with a comprehensive range of commercial recovery options to ensure the success of their business, so I’m thrilled to join the team and I can’t wait to get settled in!”
