Brethertons to support mental health charity, Mind, in 2018

  • Posted

Brethertons Solicitors LLP is delighted to announce its Charity of the Year 2018 as the mental health charity, Mind.

Mind’ is a national charity that provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health issues. As one in four people in the UK struggle with their mental health in any given year, the support of Mind is vital. Within the workplace, mental health issues continue to increase and employers are encouraged to develop strategies to best support their staff.

As part of the recent launch of Brethertons Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, employees have been given the opportunity to nominate a charity they want the firm to support in 2018, providing details of the work of their chosen charity, who the charity helps and why Brethertons should support them. In excess of 20 nominations were submitted, each with very powerful and compelling stories. An internal committee considered each nomination in turn and selected three charities which closely aligned with Brethertons overall company values and CSR principals. A final vote by over 200 staff resulted in Mind being chosen as Brethertons charity for 2018.

The charity of the year selection is part of Brethertons wider CSR commitment to be a responsible business that has a positive impact on the environment, community and people.

Mark North, Brethertons Partner and Head of CSR comments, ‘As a law firm, we work with different organisations and individuals who experience pressure and stress in their daily lives. Even the jobs we perform here at Brethertons can bring with them their own level of stress. Therefore, supporting Mind and the good work the charity does to raise awareness and acceptance of mental health issues was not a difficult decision for the staff to make.’

Brethertons is keen to help Mind continue their efforts across the country through financial support from fund raising activities and practical support helping to raise awareness of Mind through Brethertons network of clients and contacts.

Throughout the coming year, Brethertons will be holding a series of events, large and small, to support Mind from cake sales to mountain climbs and a few days of fancy dress – all for a good cause.
