Partner and Head of Family Law, Rugby
I attended Oxford Brooks University and I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEx). I specialise in property and land law, in particular leasehold property. I am experienced in residential conveyancing and drafting of easements, leases and lease extensions deeds and all documents relevant to leasehold property.
My work within our team is within the non-contentious areas of residential leasehold and includes lease extensions both statutory and voluntary, collective enfranchisement and right to manage claims. As well as freehold acquisitions under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 and ground rent portfolio sales and purchases and plot sales and grants of new leases. Amongst the achievements I’m most proud of (apart from my three sons and mastering water ski-ing) I would include winning the award from CILEX for the highest marks achieved in my Land Law and also Conveyancing Practise examinations – certificates displayed proudly on my parents' wall. I am lucky enough to love my job and being part of the Brethertons Team.
Outside work, I’m a Mum to three teenage boys with only just under 4 years between them. I have no spare time – ever! But make time to attend the gym three or four times a week to keep me sane and to make time for me. I support Liverpool Football Club (sorry). We spend most Saturdays rushing around Oxfordshire and standing on the touch lines of various football pitches supporting our boys, ferrying boys to and from various ventures and as a “go for it mum” will be seen paintballing, off-road cycling and even water ski-ing (often under rather than on the water). Our family operates a rule of “Week is for Work” “Weekend is for Play” and it starts at 5.30 on Fridays. For peace and quiet (when?) I love reading, the canals and the peaceful meandering along the canal on a narrowboat and spending time with my family.
