Shaun Jardine appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Brethertons LLP

  • Posted

Following an extensive interview selection process, with a very impressive range of both external and internal candidates, Brethertons is delighted to announce the appointment of Shaun Jardine as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.

A vigorous interview programme was adopted to ensure that the new CEO embraced the desired qualities of the role. This included staff interview forums whereby the CEO candidates fielded questions from a panel of 20 staff. This process was overseen by HR Partner, Deborah Atkins in conjunction with the former CEO of a global company, brought in to assist in this extremely important recruitment campaign.

The appointment follows a period of rapid growth for Brethertons. Within the last two years, it has invested significantly within a number of successful strategic lateral hires and mergers. This has further supported and enhanced its increasing strength and depth across a broad range of commercial and personal legal services. In the last 12 months alone, Brethertons has recruited 66 people, of which 35 were employed within new positions, consolidating the 28% growth achieved by the firm in 2013-2014. This is further cemented with its physical expansion into Bicester and imminent move into brand new, purpose built offices in the heart of Rugby.

“As we embark on this exciting new chapter for Brethertons, the other Partners and I are very confident that, with his candid passion, Shaun is the right person to lead the firm forward,” said Mike Dibben, Partner and incumbent CEO.

Mike has led the firm as CEO since 2010 and announced earlier in the year that he would step down from the role once a successor was named.

“Shaun has a proven ability and flair to drive innovation and growth, and a talent for bringing people together and delivering results. His vision for how legal services will be used and purchased in the future is exactly what we need to take the firm throughout this next chapter of our development as one of the UK’s leading legal services providers.”

Since Brethertons merged with Auld & Jardine in 1995, Shaun has spearheaded major strategy and shifts in income streams across the firm’s range of services; most notably through the development and implementation of new services in niche areas of law. This has been achieved through a combination of innovation, good practice and a clear and unwavering focus on excellent client service. Shaun has been Partner and Head of a multiple award winning team of lawyers which include the Commercial Litigation, Property Management and Commercial Recoveries teams, as well as a member of the Management Team, leading up to this appointment.

“I am delighted that the Partners have given me the opportunity to lead the firm within this exciting new CEO role, and extremely excited about the possibilities that lie within our future here at Brethertons,” said Shaun. “Our established experience in delivering excellence in legal services coupled with our innovative approach and our strong client-centric ethos, positions us well to act upon the opportunities during this time of dynamic change within the legal industry. I look forward to working with our entire Brethertons team, who I firmly believe have great ideas and hold the key to our future success.”
