We care passionately about every customer we help
Partner and Head of Family Law, Rugby
I’ve worked in law for around 30 years and originally started out as a legal secretary, then progressed to clerk (or paralegal as we say now!) and qualified as a Legal Executive in 2002. I’ve worked with Brethertons since 2001.
I work in the field of Commercial and Civil litigation, mainly dealing with disputes between landlords and tenants, neighbours, or shareholders involving residential property, breach of contract or covenant claims, professional negligence claims and some contested probate matters. Some of the complex high net worth cases I work on are often heard in the Multi-track of the High Court as well as the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal.
A proud moment in my career was being awarded the title of Legal Executive of the Year at the Law Society Excellence Awards in 2010. The award was judged by an influential panel of experts in law so I’m really proud to have beaten off some stiff competition to win! I’m also delighted to be recognised as a Leader in my Field by the Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 guides to the legal profession.
I’m a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, a Member of the Property Law Association, and have previously written for the Guardian and been interviewed for an article in The Legal Executive Magazine.
Some of my career highlights include settling in favour of customer on a £2.2m commercial contract dispute, successfully obtaining an award of costs in a residential property matter to the tune of £65K, winning a boundary dispute matter which was then appealed, and then winning that appeal with recovery of costs for my customer.
Away from the office, I’m a keen Hockey player (when I’m not injured!) and enjoy watching my son play junior County Cricket and Club Cricket, and as a result see lots of the British country/sea side and running up thousands of miles on my car! I also enjoy cooking and entertaining.
