Lawyers get a dressing down

  • Posted

This week, we are giving our staff a week to remember in the lead up to the late Summer Bank Holiday – by encouraging them to come to work in casual wear all week in return for a donation to the firm’s charity of the year.

Starting on Monday 17 August, our staff will get to wear jeans, tracksuits and anything else that takes their fancy if they contribute £5 to the fundraising effort. Traditionally, we hold a ‘Dress Down Friday’ each week, but this time the occasion has been turned on its head and this week’s Dress Up Friday is videogame superhero themed!

The beneficiary of the fundraising activity is SpecialEffect, a charity based near Witney in Oxfordshire that helps people with physical disabilities put fun and inclusion back into their lives by helping them play video games.

Our Chief Executive Officer, Shaun Jardine, explains how Dress Down Friday became Dress Up Friday, “We wanted to do something fun that would strengthen our link with SpecialEffect and the fantastic work they do. Superhero characters were the obvious choice – especially with our own Brethertonian superheroes who work hard for the charity both inside and outside the office!”

Deborah Atkins, HR Partner and leader of the firm’s Charity Committee, said, “At Brethertons, we love supporting our friends at SpecialEffect. Already this year, we’ve raised over £1500 to help them continue to deliver their inspirational work.”
