Brethertons Appointed to 'Help to Buy Midlands' Solicitors Panel

We are delighted to report that we have been appointed to the ‘Help to Buy Midlands’ Solicitors Panel – confirming our commitment to the property sector and the affordable housing market.

‘Help to Buy Midlands’ is the largest of seven government appointed Help to Buy agents in England; selected by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)  to deliver Help to Buy across the country.

Orbit is the ‘Help to Buy’ agent for the Midlands and has two main functions; firstly to promote homeownership schemes and secondly to assess applicants for these schemes to make sure each customer is eligible and it is affordable.

According to statistics released by Gov.co.uk, over the period since the launch of the Help to Buy: equity loan scheme (1 April 2013 to 31 December 2016), 112,338 properties were bought (legal completions) with the support of the Help to Buy: equity loan scheme. The majority of sales were to first-time buyers (90,724) representing 81% of total sales with the average (mean) purchase price being £233,403.

Tom Ansell, Head of Conveyancing at Brethertons, said: “We are delighted to be named on the ‘Help to Buy Midlands’ legal panel. The application process was extremely thorough which focused on our skills and experience in dealing with the different types of ‘Help to Buy’ products available. We look forward to working closer with Orbit and continue to advise our clients through the ‘Help to Buy’ process.”

Natalie Coe, Marketing and PR Officer at Help to Buy Midlands, said: “Help to Buy Midlands often find that people are unsure of where to go for conveyancing advice when purchasing a new home so they signpost them to their panel members.  Panel members are appointed because they have extensive experience of low cost home ownership schemes including Help to Buy; so potential home owners can be reassured they are choosing an organisation with the relevant knowledge and expertise.”
