Kate Austin, Legal Executive (FILEX)

Kate , who joined Brethertons in 2002 is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives  and is a key component in Brethertons provision of Agricultural and Rural business sector advice. Kate has 20 years of property law experience and advises on agricultural and residential property transactions including sales, purchases, remortgages and deeds of easements.

Kate also has experience in dealing with a wide variety of applications to the Land Registry including adverse possession claims, complex voluntary registration applications, rectification of title registers and plans and definition of boundaries.

Kate's clients include farmers acquiring land to expand their family farm, clients adding to their agricultural holding portfolio and clients acquiring properties with ancillary equestrian facilities. Kate is a member of the Agricultural Law Association.

Torquil Macleod, Litigation Executive (FILEX)

Torquil is a Litigation Executive and is a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives. Natalie Hobbs, Paralegal

Natalie mainly deals with business transactions. She thoroughly enjoys being involved in the process of business transactions and getting to know the individuals involved throughout.

Sally Richmond, Commercial Conveyancing Executive

Sally has daily contact with clients mainly on the telephone but also face to face.  Clients vary from individuals to companies and generally the instructions are relating to commercial purchases and sales or leasing and assigning of leases of commercial properties.

Sioban Calcott, Head of Banbury Litigation (FILEX)

Sioban heads up the Banbury Litigation department. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and member of the Property Litigation Association (PLA). She undertakes a wide range of areas of litigation, including recovery of possession of properties, boundary disputes, commercial contract disputes, restoration of companies, residential property litigation, LVT proceedings, personal injury overseas and dept recovery.

Sioban Calcott is recognised as ‘Leaders in their Field’ by Chambers UK 2011 as a 'leader in Dispute Resolution'  "thorough and hard-working" Sioban Calcott earns praise for her "conscientious and sensible" approach to litigation.  She concentrates on commercial contract and property disputes.

Jackie Ray, Head of Commercial Recoveries (FILEX)

Jackie is a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives. She acts for a number of interesting clients including Hi-Tech Plcs, Credit Unions, Suppliers of Mobility Aids, Vintners, Universities, Aggregates and major financial institutions.

Carmel Magee, Commercial Collections Executive

Carmel works for major Plcs in the recovery of their outstanding invoices. Carmel's clients include both national and international entities and she deals with recoveries worldwide through a network of business associates.

Carmel also specialises in the sensitive recovery of services rendered to the elderly and the non-payment of funeral/memorial services. Gary Braathen, Litigation Executive

Gary acts on behalf of major Plcs dealing with their disputed recovery cases. Typically the high value work and cases where there are technical matters to review. Gary particularly enjoys complex cases concerning issues that he can relate to, Gary often deals with matters concerning fine wines and spirits and they can have an interesting outcome!

Elizabeth Mitchell

Having completed her Legal Practice Course and Graduate Diploma in Law, Elizabeth works in the Commercial Recoveries department as a paralegal.

Hannah Montgomery

Having studied Law at the University of Leicester, Hannah joined the Commercial Recoveries department as a Paralegal in 2011.

Hannah’s role includes handling pre-litigation cases, litigation matters and enforcement for the Departments substantial client base. Hannah also assists the team’s Litigation Executive, Paul Lydon, in handling defended cases and attends uncontested Court hearings on behalf of the department. Karen Howick, Conveyancing Executive

Karen joined the firm in December 2003 as a Conveyancing Executive.  She has since qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer and is now Assistant Manager of the Conveyancing Team.

Karen deals with all sorts of conveyancing work, ranging from studio flats to £1,000,000.00 plus mansions and is involved with all stages of the conveyancing transaction from opening the file to completion.  However Karen predominantly deals with checking legal titles, mortgage offers and searches, as well as the drafting or checking of legal documents such as Contracts, Transfers and Deeds.  Karen also assists her colleagues in the Conveyancing Team with any legal queries or other complexities that may arise. click here.

Mark North, Debt Recovery Manager

Mark manages a personal caseload of between 350 and 400 live matters. The work Mark undertakes is generally high volume dealing with clients who own blocks of flats and are owed either service charge or ground rent arrears.

Anji Arkell, Probate Manager

Anji acts for a wide range of people from all age groups with varying financial backgrounds.  She specialises in dealing with and advising on all matters relating to the administration of estates, whether there is a Will or not, to include complex and insolvent estates.
