Regional Law Firm Brethertons LLP marked another first with the launch of their Agricultural and Rural Business team presided over by none other than one of the most famous faces in Agriculture, John Craven of BBC’s Countryfile. The event at Crockwell Farm, Eydon, which was attended by over 50 members of the agricultural community was held to celebrate the launch of the new Agricultural and Rural Business team. Partner Elizabeth Young explains: “Brethertons has been undertaking agricultural law throughout it’s 200 year history, in fact the firms founding partner, Count Ferdinand Wratislaw, had, according to the census of 1851; 6 children, 4 servants, 273 acres of agricultural land and 17 agricultural labourers. So ! Farming has always played a huge part in Brethertons business , right from the start. We were delighted with how our launch was received and the support we have had from our farming clients, as well as the agricultural business community. John Craven's kind support and presentation made an excellent contribution to the event and helped make it extra special evening especially for some of the younger members of the agricultural community who were present.”
John Craven's keynote speech focused on some of the wide and varied experiences which he has had whilst travelling to all for corners of the UK and beyond whilst presenting Countryfile for the last 20 years. John delivered a passionate message in support of the farming community , and explained some of the challenges it has been through of late and the positive position it is now in. The guests also heard from Brethertons Agricultural lawyers Tristram van Lawick, and Kate Austin. Tristram who has an interest in a sheep farm based in Sussex joined Brethertons earlier this year. The Brethertons team are able to deal with a wide range of agricultural issues including the sale and purchase of agricultural land, agricultural tenancies , the Single Payment Scheme as well as partnership issues, tax planning, Wills, and succession.
