Sophie Wales, Associate, Solicitor

 

Sophie advises on many aspects of private legal work including estate administration, trust creation, Will drafting and elderly client work.  In addition, Sophie specialises in the preparation of Wills for individuals with children/grandchildren with learning disabilities. As part of this, Sophie works closely with the charities MENCAP and Cerebra and has presented at several of their seminars to raise awareness of the particular issues which should be addressed when advising families with vulnerable children of all ages.  

Sophie particularly enjoys advising on how to plan effectively for the future through the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney.  In addition, she advises on applications to the Office of the Public Guardian and Court of Protection for deputyship and other financial orders.

Sophie regularly appears on BBC Radio Oxford to provide advice to listeners on the topic of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Having joined Brethertons after qualifying as a solicitor in 2008, Sophie, is not only delighted to have been given the opportunity to, but is an integral part in developing the firm’s presence in Banbury and the surrounding areas. Sophie believes that it is the high level of contact with such a diverse group of clients which ensures enjoyment in her very specific role.  Sophie’s mantra continues to be…Clients, who have carefully considered instructing Brethertons, must receive total satisfaction, value for money, impeccable service with a smile and limitless professional patience when it is required.

Sophie is a member of the Probate Section of the Law Society.  Sophie is based at the Brethertons' Banbury office where she works closely with her fellow team members in Rugby.

In her free time, Sophie enjoys attending her local gym where she plays tennis and swims. Sophie also enjoys learning about the classical world and travelling following her undergraduate degree in classics, and her time spent living in Umbria studying at an Italian university.
