Nadiya Virani-Bland, Associate, Head of Department

As a solicitor and Head of the Department, Nadiya is responsible for ensuring that both she and her team provide an excellent level of service to all clients.  Nadiya has a wide range of experience and provides clients with practical advice on the issues affecting them.

Nadiya has experience in advising on the administration of estates ensuring that at the most difficult of times, families can rest assured that their matters are dealt with both compassionately and accurately. She also draws up Wills, providing advice on Inheritance Tax and Care Home Fees protection as well as assisting clients with drafting trusts. In particular, Nadiya deals with is the setting up of personal injury trusts, helping clients to preserve compensation received following accidents, criminal injuries, or vaccination damage.

Nadiya also has a particular interest in advising clients and families in applications to the Court of Protection, in relation to those people who cannot deal with their own affairs due to lack of capacity.  These can often be complex situations requiring detailed advice, detailed attention, patience, and an ability to understand the very specific challenges facing families facing long term care and administration.

Nadiya particularly enjoys the unique challenges that this type of work can bring. Often families find themselves in the daunting position of having to take over the running of financial or social affairs of their nearest and dearest, but without the appropriate authority to do this. Nadiya can help clients through the myriad of forms and procedures in the most efficient and caring way possible. Due to the volume of matters she deals with, she has a real appreciation of the tactical steps we can be taken to speed things along so people can get on with their lives

Nadiya is a member of the Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).She also regularly supports the work of MENCAP presenting to carers at seminars locally, providing advice in relation to those with learning disabilities. She also speaks whenever invited at local carers’ forums in relation to applications to the Court of Protection and Lasting Powers of Attorney.  Nadiya has appeared on BBC Radio Oxford providing advice regarding Lasting Powers of Attorneys and Wills.

Nadiya is proud to be a member of the team at Brethertons. She trained to be a solicitor with the firm, and is delighted to be a part of a growing strong legal firm. We are very excited about the future and look forward to sharing a long and successful future with our many brilliant clients and contacts.

Nadiya is married and originally comes from Rugby, having moved back after attending University in Liverpool.  When she has time, Nadiya enjoys watching Leicester City and Leicester Tigers and is an avid reader.
