 Richard Dawson

Richard Dawson, Solicitor, Catastrophic Injuries

Richard is an experienced personal injury solicitor and is a specialist of spinal injury claims. He has extensive experience of handling catastrophic injuries, spinal injury cases and has a deep understanding of the compensation needs and rights of claimants.

Richard joined Brethertons in 2010 from a leading Oxford law firm, having also worked in Cheshire. Richard is on the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel, is an approved member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and has been an approved member of the Spinal Injuries Association since 1989.

In his leisure time, Richard enjoys gardening, cricket, DIY and walking the dog.

Jonathan Rees - Head of Personal Injury

Jonathan Rees - Head of Personal Injury

Jonathan Rees is Head of Personal Injury and has over 15 years' of experience covering all aspects of personal injury litigation.  He is an appointed Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and is responsible for business development within this specialist area.

Jon brings knowledge, skills, expertise and experience to the Brethertons team in areas such as clinical negligence, catastrophic injury, professional negligence, workplace accident and disease litigation, public liability, transport accident claims, and multi-party 'group' litigation.

Jon represented Wales as a teenage footballer, and was an associate schoolboy with Cardiff City Football Club. Nowadays he is happier as a football spectator, but he remains a keen golfer and skier. Jon is a happily married father to two little boys and a daughter. He enjoys spending free time with his family.

Sioban has over twenty years experience. Nicola Heales

Nicola Heales, Solicitor, Head of Head and Brain Injuries

Nicola qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 and is a very experienced serious personal injury solicitor who has specialised in severe catastrophic injury claims acting for both children and adults for the last fifteen years. She has a particular interest in acquired brain injury, spinal injuries, rehabilitation and “capacity” and is a firm believer that the early introduction of rehabilitation assists all parties to bring claims to a satisfactory resolution. Nicola adopts a multi-disciplinary approach liaising with the medical team, case managers and the Court of Protection where necessary.

Amy Bell, Solicitor

Amy is a Solicitor within the Litigation department having completed her training at Brethertons.  Amy deals with a wide range of litigation areas, but in particular deals with commercial contract disputes, partnership disputes, restoration of companies, personal injury (both overseas and in the UK) and residential property disputes, including proceedings in the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.

 Sarah Dawson

Sarah Dawson, Legal Assistant, Catastrophic Injuries

Sarah is a Legal Assistant supporting the spinal injuries team of the Brethertons’ catastrophic injuries team. Sarah is very active in the spinal injuries sector, and has personal involvement in the promotion and understanding of spinal injury law in conjunction with the Spinal Injuries Association.

Sarah understands spinal injury care, aids and assessment and can work diligently with families to ensure their needs are considered and supported.

In her leisure time, Sarah enjoys singing and performing salsa and jive dancing.
