Tristram van Lawick, Solicitor

Tristram has experience in advising on a number of agricultural matters including: farm sales and purchases through both private sales and at auction; agricultural tenancies governed by both the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986; leases of commercial units; third party rights over land including grazing agreements and grants of rights of way; and Common Agricultural Policy issues including the Single Payment Scheme and Environmental Stewardship Schemes.

Coming from a farming background, Tristram understands the issues that agricultural clients and the farming sector face. He is a member of the Agricultural Law Association, the Country Land and Business Association, the Royal Agricultural Society of England and is on the committee of the under 30s section of The Farmers Club and the Warwickshire committee of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. He takes an active role in all the groups’ organising events and writing articles on agricultural legal matters.

Tristram was extremely pleased to join Brethertons, and we recognise the importance of providing specialist legal advice to Agricultural clients.  In appreciating that clients involved in farming do not work 9-5 and need a lawyer who understands the diverse demands made on their time, Tristram is happy to visit them at their premises, which also gives him an opportunity to gain a greater “hands on” understanding of their business.
