Brian Auld, Partner, Corporate & Commercial Law

Brian Auld is the partner in charge of our Corporate & Commercial Department and also a school trustee (Banbury School) in his spare time and was a Governor of a primary school for a number of years.  This gives Brian an in-depth awareness of the issues that face schools. Brian’s experience includes sale/purchase of businesses and commercial contracts (including IT, copyright, trademark and other licences),  advising on business transfers and structuring companies and their contractual relationships. Brian advises on regulatory aspects relevant to client sectors including the establishment and running of charities.

Jitendra Patel, Solicitor, Corporate & Commercial Law

Jitendra Patel is a Consultant Solicitor specialising in corporate and commercial work for private and public sector clients. He focuses on all types of mergers, joint ventures and re-organisations, with extensive experience of negotiating funding agreements with a range of providers. He has advised local authorities and public sector bodies on corporate governance and partnering and the structure and constitution of joint ventures, including special purpose vehicles for public private partnerships. As well as experience of working with government departments, he is also experienced in advising charities and guiding charity trustees and directors on their roles and responsibilities.

Jitendra is a Governor of Regent College (a 16+ and adult education college) and the Whitehall Primary School in Leicester and has relevant experience having been a Governor of local authority schools for over 16 years.

Mary Anderson

Mary Anderson, Partner, Commercial Property Law

Mary Anderson is a commercial property partner and focuses on commercial property and secured lending legal work with an emphasis on public sector organisations including schools and higher education.  Mary’s expertise covers the full spectrum of commercial property work, including sales and purchases, development, granting and taking of leases, secured lending, and general property management.

Tom is an experienced commercial property solicitor who deals with freehold title and documentation and advises a variety of clients on the terms of commercial leases. Most Academies will be negotiating 125 year leases with their Local Authority and Tom will be able to ensure that the Academy Trust both understands the terms of the lease and will be able to negotiate any improvements/changes to the precedent proposed by the DfE.

Natalie Widdop

Natalie Widdop, B-Sec Administrator, Corporate & Commercial Law

Natalie is a law graduate and qualified para-legal with responsibility for the running of our on-line company secretary system B-Sec. All Academies will have to incorporate companies limited by guarantee (the Academy Trust) and we are able to provide that service at a fixed cost and to maintain company registers, provide annual returns etc. and all the information we maintain is accessible by you via a web link.

David Hodge

David Hodge, Solicitor, Employment Law

David Hodge specialises in employment law matters and has considerable experience in this field and provides pragmatic advice to businesses and individuals on employee disputes and contracts of employment.  David is a member of the Employment Law Association and lends his expertise to commercial transactions and has a particular interest in new business structure staff transfer related matters.  David is therefore well-versed in the Transfer of Undertaking Regulations (TUPE) and sensitive employee consultations and negotiations.  David is also able to provide training and guidance for Human Resources teams and staff handbook and contract advice.
