Shaun Jardine, Partner

Shaun is the Head of the Commercial Litigation and Commercial Recoveries Departments based at the Banbury office.

As a Solicitor, Shaun acts mainly for commercial clients involved in disputes ranging from property related matters to Directors Disqualification proceedings.

In his role as  a Commercial Mediator Shaun is called in by other Solicitors and other professionals to try and assist their clients to reach a commercial solution and avoid going court.

Shaun Jardine is recognised as ‘Leaders in their Field’ by Chambers UK as a ‘leader in Dispute Resolution: Mediators'.  Jardine takes his place in this year's table having earned praise for his ability to "provide commercial advice in an impartial manner." His mediation practice is predominantly focussed on property-related disputes, mirroring his practice as a solicitor.  He also regularly handles construction disputes.

The Legal 500 describes Shaun as "user-friendly, responsive and efficient‘.

Jackie Ray, Head of Commercial Recoveries (FILEX)

Jackie is a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives. She acts for a number of interesting international and national Blue Chip clients including Hi-Tech Plcs, Credit Unions, Suppliers of Mobility Aids, Vintners, Universities, Aggregates and major financial institutions.

Carmel Magee, Commercial Collections Executive

Carmel works for major Plcs in the recovery of their outstanding invoices. Carmel's clients include both national and international entities and she deals with recoveries worldwide through a network of business associates.

Carmel also specialises in the recovery of sensitive matters e.g. services rendered to the elderly and the non-payment of funeral/memorial services. Kirsty Hughes, Commercial Collections Executive

Kirsty joined Brethertons in 1997 and acts for a number of large multi-nationals in the recovery of monies recoverable under leases and under hire purchase agreements. She also acts for finance and IT companies and deals with all manners of uncontested recoveries, enforcement and insolvency. Kirsty is an Associate of the Institute of Legal Executives. Nicky Beveridge, Commercial Collections Executive

Nicky works for major Plcs dealing with the recovery of their outstanding invoices. The type of work that she does includes both national and international entities and she has experience working for credit insurance companies and service support clients.

Gary Braathen, Litigation Executive

Gary acts on behalf of major Plcs dealing with their disputed recovery cases. Gary often deals with matters concerning fine wines and spirits as they can have an interesting outcome!

Gary also deals with the Department's insolvency work as his background includes working with a well known Firm who specialised in recovery using either winding up or bankruptcy processes. He also specialises in Return of Goods claims which is another niche area of law.

Paul Lydon, Litigation Executive

Paul acts on behalf of major PLCs and deals with high value and complex contested matters. In particular Paul has expertise with claims resulting from promotional activities such as exhibition stands, advertising and marketing.

Sarah Pass, Trainee Legal Executive

Sarah deals with the Commercial Recoveries Department administration but also acts for clients and assists with their work. In particular, Sarah attends uncontested Court hearings.

Edward Bible, Solicitor and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

Edward Bible heads up Brethertons Insolvency team. He is both a solicitor and licensed insolvency practitioner.  He has a wide knowledge of all areas of insolvency.  Edward advises insolvency practitioners, banks and other clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters.  Edward Bible is recognised as ‘Leaders in their Field’ by Chambers UK 2011 as a ‘leader in Restructuring/Insolvency'.  Edward "has wide knowledge of his subject and offers alternative solutions to achieve goals." Radhica Joshi

Elizabeth Mitchell

Having completed her Legal Practice Course and Graduate Diploma in Law, Elizabeth works in the Commercial Recoveries department as a paralegal.

Elizabeth’s role involves acting on uncontested debt recovery cases for clients from initial instructions through to enforcement. She also undertakes research on matters which arise from cases to ensure that the advice provided is up-to-date.  To find out more about Elizabeth, read her profile.

Hannah Montgomery

Having studied Law at the University of Leicester, Hannah joined the Commercial Recoveries department as a Paralegal in 2011.

Hannah’s role includes handling pre-litigation cases, litigation matters and enforcement for the Departments substantial client base. Hannah also assists the team’s Litigation Executive, Paul Lydon, in handling defended cases and attends uncontested Court hearings on behalf of the department.
