Brethertons Strengthens Commercial Property Team with Significant Partner Appointment

Regional Law Firm, Brethertons LLP has appointed a new partner to join the firm, increasing the strength of its successful commercial property team based in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire with the appointment of Mary Anderson.
Mary has several years of experience having been a Partner in large commercial firms in London, Birmingham and Coventry, as well as a previous 5 year period in Rugby with Shoosmiths Solicitors.

She specialises in commercial property and secured lending. Mary has in-depth experience in representing both lenders and project financiers and acts for a diverse range of major developer clients in connection with large-scale residential development schemes and out-of-town retail parks. Mary’s expertise covers the full spectrum of commercial property legal work, including sales and purchases, development, granting and taking of leases, secured lending (and latterly its enforcement), investment transactions and general property management.
Mary says: “It’s an exciting time to join the Brethertons commercial team which is going from strength to strength. It appears that many City Centre firms are potentially at the wrong end of a brain drain with experienced and talented practitioners pursuing the attraction of rival locations. As economic recovery takes root – which it eventually will – developers and investors are increasingly looking elsewhere to meet their needs and finding exactly the same service and expertise at much more sensible charge out rates. A better work life balance is an added benefit for all.”
“I am also very pleased to add that my PA of the last 7 years, Yvette Cashmore, is joining me at Brethertons.”
Mary is recommended by Chambers and Partners 2009 for her “Thoroughly detailed and commercial approach.” Chambers and Partners is a comprehensive annual review covering each of the different legal disciplines and categorising the best specialists and best firms.
Another similar publication, The Legal 500 states that Mary “Combines strong technical knowledge with good transactional skills and is prompt and commercial in her outlook.”
Richard Pell, Senior Partner explains: “I am delighted that Mary has accepted this position with Brethertons. A much respected commercial property and secured lending lawyer, she has a wealth of experience and her decision to join us is testament to the growing reputation that Brethertons has built both in the property and legal industry.”
Mary’s appointment reflects the firms continued expansion plans with successful expansion already achieved with a 10% growth in a recession year. Brethertons has moved up the Legal 500 table of UK law firms from 331 to 221.
Last month Brethertons hit the legal headlines with the appointment of four new specialist lawyers who are now based in the Private Client, Insolvency and Litigation teams. This follows on from the promotion of Trevor Dyer, a non-practising lawyer and Finance Director to Partner status.
