Brethertons LLP – recognised in the 2011 Legal 500 directory
Local law firm Brethertons LLP has been recognised this month for its legal services by independent research published in the 2011 Legal 500, a directory guide to UK law firms.
The Legal 500 is an annual researched publication that has commented on how the recession has affected law firms operating in the South East region: “After the difficulties of 2009, 2010 brought a significant upturn in work for many South East firms across a range of areas. There were strong signs of recovery as several firms made new hires, or undertook significant expansions and mergers.”
In the Legal 500 this year, Brethertons is recognised in the following areas of law:
Agriculture, Family Law, Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Litigation, Commercial Property, Dispute Resolution, Employment Law, Personal Injury, Corporate Recovery & Insolvency, Wills, Trusts and Probate (private client), and Intellectual Property.
Particular areas of success include the Family department in the West Midlands Rugby office, where Brethertons moved up from tier 3 to tier 2 and Commercial Property in the South East Banbury office where Brethertons moved up from tier 5 to tier 3. The L500 directory comments: ”An ethos of efficiency permeates Brethertons LLP. The team demonstrates a sound and thorough knowledge of the law, but advice is always tempered by an injection of practicality. Linda Jones has unsurpassed, encyclopaedic knowledge of family law and Tom Lawrence is recommended.”
Michael Dibben, Partner and CEO at Brethertons said of the firm’s performance: “We are delighted that so many of our service areas have been recognised by independent research which identified the development of our service offering in our private client and commercial departments. We have also debuted in Agriculture South East, Corporate Commercial South East, Personal Injury South East, Insolvency and Corporate Recovery South East and IT & Telecoms. I’m pleased that our lawyers and the service they provide to clients have been so highly recognised and valued by our clients.”
Brethertons LLP continues to grow and develop and 2011 sees Partner and specialist spinal-injury lawyer, Richard Dawson join the firm from an Oxford-based competitor. Nicola Heales also joined Brethertons from a national law firm in 2011 and is a specialist in the field of brain injury compensation claims. Along with International Child Abduction, these niche areas of law help to ensure that Brethertons is one of only a handful of UK firms with this depth of expertise.
